WE INVENTED TWO-WAY VOICE / AUDIO VERIFICATION

In the early 70's, concerned by the excessively high numbers of false alarms from existing alarm panels, we created a method for immediate verification of emergencies: Two-Way Voice.

Until that time, perhaps the most revolutionary improvement in alarm systems was the digital dialer. This now-common device allowed an alarm panel to send a digital signal through the phone line to a monitoring center.  But that improvement only signaled that an emergency might be occurring somewhere. It answered only half the problem.

American Two-Way quickly realized that since the dialer used standard phone lines to send data, it only made sense to use the same system to also transmit what the phone line was originally created to do—to also transmit an audio conversation. From that simple concept, our two-way voice audio verification system was born.  

At first, two-way voice was available only in our own systems such as the One Touch, Sentinel and Companion systems. Ultimately, other companies licensed our verification technologies. Today, virtually every alarm panel manufacturer offers two-way voice.

No other center, anywhere, has our experience with two-way voice and other verification technologies. Why go anywhere else?
